  District convention to be held in assembly hall instead of stadium

  last night they announced that this summers district convention will be held at an assembly hall.. this is the first time i've seen this happen.

  there are a couple of congregations in the same hall here and they aren't going to the same ones.

  they are having multiple dates.. the hall they are going to use can only hold 1500 people max.. just wondering if maybe they just couldnt get anything bigger this year or if the falling numbers are playing a part in this decision.

  The split up of congregations in the same hall is so there are motel rooms available and used

  Ours has been at an assembly hall ever since it was built. I will give them credit for good seats, no sports arena stuff the lunch facilities lack, and there is no place for kids to be kids at lunch; but caleb and Sophia dont play catch, hopscotch, leapfrog anyway

  It does make it harder to connect with old acquaintances and really cuts into any chance for young ones to meet a marriage mate; they keep up the rules and we will be inbred

  there was a time we could laugh about mindless silly things.

  someone using an ethnic accent, making fun of their own race, making fun of someone’s intelligent, etc.

  we could laugh without feeling constantly offended , upset or disturbed.

  Brown face with a Sikh turban. Cant even get his ethnic groups right. Csnt wait for Halloween. sure to offend " real" witches, cowboys, or spacemen

  so let me get this straight.

  even though law enforcement has their hands full with illegal drugs and guns on the street, child traffickers, dangerous gangs and such.

  they are going to now pool all their resources to confiscate bibles and religious literature?!

  That Gilead or whatever they call the school video from this weeks meeting mentioned airline turbulence. Their point being to expect it. The point I think they missed was it means nothing at all

  Yes. Little is funny, most if is mean spirited. Examples: Carlin, I didnt like his vulgar speech, but could appreciate the dirty word routine, the god and money remarks

  Red Skelton: super patriot, failed to recognize that at even good government can err

  Colbert: went so left he is not worth watching, no w of the laughing at ourselves anymore

  i have been in two congregations where someone moved in from the big city and took over with the attitude of the northerners when they go south, i come from where they do it right.

  like bulls in china shops they remove people and do the house cleaning like the political org cult it is.

  Here the only time new elders came in they were assigned, and they were decent men. Unfortunately they died young.

  I knew 2 city slickers who moved south and took over, from what I know of them they were not bullies though.

  There was an assembly experience where a family moved from California to small town Nebraska; they were not lonesome as they brought friends in too, so it became little kalifornia.

  That latter experience is not limited to congregations. People flee Calif ( or wherever) bring inflated house money ey which runs local costs up, and then try to impose their attitude ( usually the reasons they left) on the whole community

  i have been reading the publications of the wts since i was 6, 60 years now.

  we were too poor to have more than one subscription for each magazine so i had to wait until my mother had read it (she let them pile up).

  That well paying job....those are the ones with a reliable paid for car and own a home so they can downsize

  I know where literature is hidden from times past. It is all outdated, except for the green bible

  They forgot to mention the money laundering part in Russia. There is no way to speak lucidly with the present doctrines, so there goes casual conversations. A good way to fade: from the past scenarios anyone with health issues would have to miss, then not have information on the next clandestine meeting place and time. Over half of the service group leaders are incompetent so will never be able to perform. I would be able to keep people fed, housed, in contact, but am not spiritually qualified as I do not turn in 10 hours

  Just so long as they dont do anything constructive. I thought Bush 2 was n insipid fool, but maybe the better path was to not do things

  O, Clintons, and recent dems surely are guilty of real high crimes but will never see any sanctions
